Ernst Toch

The Importance of Being Ernst / Jewish Museum Vienna / Exhibition Design 2010

Among the cultural attractions of Vienna are the numerous houses in which famous musicians from Mozart to Strauss once lived, but none of the apartments in which 20th century composers resided are open to the public. Therefore an imaginary apartment inspired by the architecture of modernism serves as a stage for Toch, the pioneer of musical New Objectivity, and is above all a place of reflection and commemoration of his life. It is designed as an imaginary journey that takes us not only through the apartment, but also through the many locations where the composer lived.
